Talent Management is one of the 9 Areas of Expertise (AoE) in ASTD’s Learning & Performance Competency model. There is a related page on the official ASTD Blog, “How Do You Define Talent Management” by the ASTD research department. This article refers to the following white paper: The New Face of Talent Management (Galagan, 2009). This white paper should be on any CPLP candidate’s reading list. In addition to creating a standard definition of Talent Management, this paper covers success factors, essential skills for leaders of talent management, various leadership roles, and an action plan for leading Talent Management.
